[AR]Messy and [DSR] Nooblet take home wins in GTReMix Race at Blackwood
In the 6th race of the DSR GTReMix Series at Blackwood the miniGTRs were the majority as only 4 GTRs entered the race. [DSR] Hmmm... took the pole position, but in the end couldn't hold off the hard charging [DSR]Nooblet. With this win, [DSR] Nooblet overtakes [DSR] Smack in the miniGTR class.
In the GTR class it was all Messy, [AR]Messy that is. [AR]Messy grabbed the pole, fast lap and the win in a race where all the GTR drivers ended where they started and no highest climber could be awarded.
With 4 races to go in the GTReMix series, and only 2 until drop points and participation points come into play, Stuart80holds the overall points lead, but watch out, [DSR] Nooblet leads in drop points and we just might be talking about him as the GTReMix champion in the coming months.
Next race: Kyoto National Reverse, May 17th, tickets still available! Book your trip on Air Kyoto today!
SpongeBob, Yosemite Sam and RoadRunner make up podium in Looney Cup Race 6
SpongeBob soaked up the win over Yosemite Sam with guns blazing and RoadRunner beep-beeped his way into 3rd in the 6th race of the DSR Looney Cup Series. The rally track was tough of racers with high jumps that, if taken too fast, would slam the car beyond the suspension's capabilities. Additionally, going back and forth from the slick mud to the asphalt made clutch wear another factor for Looney driver's to be cautious about. "Ribbit, I just drove slow, Maammy! and even though I'm a frog, Ribbit, I didn't jump too high, Ha-Cha-Cha! Maammy! Ribbit", said Michigan J. Frog in a post race interview, who with a 4th place finish leaped his way into 1st place in the points.
Next race May 11th 2008: 44 laps at Aston Cadet in an XRT or a RB4 or a FXO.
Current GTR and Overall points leader, Stuart80 took the GTR Class win in the 5th Race of the DSR GTReMix Series, further solidifying his points lead over 2nd place, [ZION] pit3k.
In the miniGTR Class it was [DSR] Smack who also took the pole and fast lap in that class, holding down the miniGTR class points lead by 2 points and grabbing up the 2nd spot in the overall points.
It was all Michigan J. Frog in the Looney Cup BMW Sauber race at Westhill International. The green dancing-singing frog took pole, fastest lap, and the win, lapping the entire field of 9 looney drivers despite having to serve a drive through penalty for "unsafe driving techniques" in the previous race at Fern Bay. Everyone thought the extremely fast Road Runner would take control of the race, but a grass mowing on lap one forced his early exit from the race. On lap 3 Michigan J. Frog served his drive through and dropped to 5th place. When asked about the race Michigan J. Frog said, "Hello my baby, hello my honey!" When asked about the penalty he said, "Maamy!" No further questions were asked. Next race: April 27th 40 laps at Blackwood RallyX (Rev) in an RB4
At the start of the 11th season of the Open Wheel Racing League this year Dark Side Racing had four driver's entered in the stellar competition. Those driver's are [DSR] Sizzle, [DSR] AlPayson, [DSR] Lebaron, and [DSR] amp88. Racing was fierce and demanding on all the driver's, but Dark Side Racing held it's own.
In Race 1, [DSR] amp88 took 3rd position in the Sprint and 7th in the Feature, while [DSR] Sizzle grabbed up the final top 10 with a 10th place finish in the Feature.
In Race 2,[DSR] Sizzle had a glorious weekend at Fern Bay Gold with a pole, and both Sprint and Feature Race wins. In doing so [DSR] Sizzle took a commanding lead in the OWRL Points championship.
In Race 3, [DSR] Sizzle finished 3rd in the Sprint and [DSR] AlPayson took 3rd in the feature, while [DSR] amp88 was missing in action.
In Race 4, [DSR] Sizzle took 3rd position in the Sprint and 6th in the Feature with [DSR] Lebaron snatching that last top 10 spot.
In Race 5, [DSR] Lebaron took a leave of absence, but [DSR] Sizzle was a speed demon. Unfortunately, bad luck got in his way while trying to defend his points lead. He finished 19th in the Sprint and 17th in the Feature while [DSR] AlPayson finished in 5th spot for the Feature.
By the time the last race started, [DSR] Sizzle's points lead was down to one single point and there were only two Dark Side Racing members left in the competition, [DSR] Sizzle and [DSR] AlPayson. [DSR] Sizzle had a bit of bad "time management", but he was fortunate to arrive 45 minutes late to find that Qualifying had started 30 minutes late. Although he missed qualification completely, he managed to make his way from the back of the pack all the way up to 8th position just ahead of the remaining DSR team mate, [DSR] AlPayson. Since the OWRL reverses the top 8 finishers of the Sprint race for the start of the Feature, this put him on pole for the feature and last race of the season. A fine way to start the last race of the season, but it still wasn't enough. spdoVincper and spdoMarcG proved too fast and overtook the points leader by lap 9. Add to that 2 chat penalties for 5 seconds each and his final finishing spot was 5th. "I'm frustrated, but the good thing this season showed me is; with just a bit of pre-race practice (not the night before) I improved a lot." said [DSR] Sizzle in a post race interview. "The season was simply awesome! It seemed every race the pole and the last driver in the pack were separated by only 2 seconds." said [DSR] AlPayson when asked about the season. He was right, except the driver's were separated by only 1.5 seconds every race. That's what makes the OWRL so appealing to driver's. Each and every one can really drive extremely well. See you all next season!
For the first and probably only time in the history of DSR, TWO series races would take place during the same weekend. Saturday was Race #3 of the the ten-race GTReMix series where the drivers traveled to Fern Bay to partake in what would be one of the most challenging races thus far. Rudy Van Buren, from team spdo took the victory for a dominating 2nd win in a row, not to mention both pole positions as well. Second was DSR's own Delusion who drove the wheels off of the XRR, struggling to keep up with the powerful FZR in the lead. Third a new face at the DSR podium, Stuart80 from the UK. It was a finish he had worked hard for and it definitely paid off in the end. At Fern Bay it's rare to see a race finish without any crashes of catastrophic proportion. That you will definitely find in the replay!
The Looney Cup was was not any less forgiving either. Driving the FOX at South City Long Reverse is like a game of "Russian Roulette" with the walls. The interesting arcs and elevations made it very difficult for the drivers to keep the car on the line, leading to no other place but the solid concrete wall. This race brought TWO new racers to the DSR podium. Rocko (spanks) finished first with some superb driving tactics and quick pace. Second came Coyote (sextech) who muscled his way through several cars to achieve his position. Third was Spongebob (ryans187) who passed two cars in a dramatic final turn of the final lap.

Road Runner (delusion_xhpb) winner of the Looney Cup Series opener
Road Runner (delusion_xhpb) started at pole but crashed out like Michael Jackson less than halfway into the race. He then pitted and came back to pwn for the victory. Congratulations to CM Burns (Lateralus) for taking 2nd and Sylvester (smack) for 3rd. Race stats here Looney Cup Series information here
