This just in.... We don't know, but we know it will be a Saturday!
An emailing communication "snafu" and major players "out of town" for personal reasons, forced the cancellation of the July 24th Casual Saturday Race this past Saturday. "It's been a tough road for some of us at DSR over the past month, but we're certain we'll be back and ready to rock soon", said Al Payson while exiting a stanky porto-potty outside of the parked car he's been living in for nearly 3 weeks, since it broke down nearly 400 miles from his home in New York.
After the last Casual Saturday Race which Al Payson won, the media pressure was so great that it had taken it's toll on Payson, who decided to hide out in an undisclosed location. While doing so, his car overheated and eventually broke down. Afraid of the media onslaught, Payson simply began living out of his car. Limping it from camp site to camp site in order stay out of the lime light and, of course, to use their port-pottys on his long secretive journey back home. It's now been over 4 weeks since the last Casual Saturday Race and more weeks are to come. Payson is sure to be one smelly man when he gets back.
When will he return? No one knows. When will DSR Casual Saturdays return? We Don't Know, but we know it will be a Saturday!
Dark Side Racing's Casual saturday pushed back 2 weeks
Dark Side Racing's next Casual Saturday Race will be pushed back one week, from July 10th to July 24th. Due to circumstances beyond our control, administrators at DSR will be unable to oversee the normally scheduled July 10th Race and have decided that moving it back 2 weeks will be ample time for them to prepare the modified BF1 combo. "We will be doing the BF1 with substantial intake restriction. Stay tuned for details." Said team principle, [DSR] Lebaron at a team meeting this past week. These details should be released in the coming week and all interested participants should check back with this website for car modification and track information. That's all for now. See you on the track!
[DSR] AlPayson takes his first ever Casual Saturday win.
In the 9th Dark Side Racing Casual Saturday race, [DSR] AlPayson took home a win. "I wasn't really prepared for the race. I mean I only ran a few practice laps and I determined that I drive this combo like its a f**king nasty c**t with festering boils oozing from it's putrid skin folds." said me in a mid-week practice session. In a race that consisted of all DSR drivers except one new-comer to the series, I thought I had a relatively low chance at even finishing the race in this very difficult combo, but apparently I was off base with that thinking. Pole Position was taken by [DSR] Nooblet.
The race started and all got through turn 1 well, but in the 1st chicane the newcomer, Sonsako, miscued and careened back onto the racing line and [DSR] smack, smacked him good. This allowed [DSR] AlPayson and [DSR] Nooblet to take a huge gap on the rest of the field immediately. On lap 2, Sonsaku showed his noob-ish-ness and flipped himself out of the race. By lap 4 [DSR] smack had managed to gain on the struggling [DSR] Lebaron and passed him. The next lap Lebaron takes the position back. On lap 8, [DSR] smack passed [DSR] Lebaron while he was in the pits.
That wouldn't stay that way on the next lap [DSR] smack pit to do some body work and [DSR] Lebaron would take the position back once again and did a little body work of his own. Little did anyone know, but the battle between those 2 had only just begun. Meanwhile [DSR] AlPayson had opened up a wide lead, but a small mis-cue caused the gap to close dramatically by the races halfway point. "Unfortunately for me, I needed that gap to make a pit and still come back on track in the lead. I was in my pit strategy window and I had to pit the next time around which I did, and [DSR] Nooblet took the lead." said [DSR] AlPayson in a post race interview. Apparently [DSR] Nooblet's strategy was to pit halfway as well, but he pit the next lap and as [DSR] AlPayson came across start/finish, to [DSR] AlPayson's surprise he passed [DSR] Nooblet as he exited the pits and took the lead back. That same lap [DSR] AlPayson hit the hi-speed chicane all wrong and spun it, without damage, but a massive loss of time and [DSR] Nooblet passed him by. as [DSR] AlPayson's luck would have it, [DSR] Nooblet did exactly the same thing the very next lap. As that happened [DSR] Lebaron was doing his best to blow his race. A few laps later on lap 15, [DSR] Lebaron tries to out brake team mate with horrible results.
but [DSR] smack kept it together enough to seek and fulfill his revenge on his nemesis.
For the next few laps [DSR] Lebaron found inventive new ways around the track.
but in the end it was [DSR] smack who found the best way to pass.
 and the final result was....

Congratulations Me! Thanks to all who participated and we'll see ya again in 2 weeks for another exciting, yet Casual Saturday Race!
sa maber nearly has his perfect day beached
Dark Side Racing's Casual Saturday Race 8 was preceded by a qualifying round that separated the top 3 drivers by a mere .05 with sa maber pulling of a blistering 1:28.33. He was followed closely by [DSR] smack, 1:28.35 and SCP™ ha zmaju who whipped off a 1:28.38. The race, however, would not go as easy, if that's what you call setting pole by .02. Lap 1, turn 1 went like this. sa maber finally gets his car un-beached and continues on far behind the pack and it looked as if his race had turned disastrous without even completing a lap. sa maber was forced to fix damage as well as serve his mandatory pit just behind [DSR] AlPayson, who elected to an early pit strategy and drive the rest of the 30 laps non-stop. On Lap 2, 1st time participant in Dark Side Racing's Casual Saturdays, SimsE Frido missed the apex, got wide and into the sand in the infield left hand turn 5. This, apparently, was just the beginning of many a pit and a bad race day for the fledgling rookie. Lap 3 would introduce Fictorious, another 1st timer, to the wall. The next lap would bring SimsE Frido to another meeting with the wall. Lap 6, sa maber catches and passes [DSR] AlPayson, his first victim of the day. Lap 8 would see SCP™ ha zmaju serve his mandatory pit and drop him to 7th position. On lap 9 another mandatory pit stop served by sa pik_d. Lap 10, [DSR] smack makes an incredible move on the outside of SCP™ Igor*cisco in the final turns before the oval section to take the lead. SCP™ Igor*cisco would pit immediately following that pass, securing the lead for [DSR] smack. Lap 13 sa maber surges past his team mate, sa pik_d to put himself in 6th spot. At the race's half way point [DSR] smack has a 12.7 second lead on yet another 1st timer to the series, FUuu. Lap 18 sees the last of the 1st timers pit with disastrous results. A drive thru penalty was given to E Carpio ™. No doubt frustration from the ruling caused him to land a sand trap only to have him exit from the race a lap later. Lap 19, [DSR] smack pits from the lead. His DSR pit crew gets him back on track with an awesomely quick pit in 2nd place, just ahead of SCP™ Igor*cisco. As they entered turn 1 of lap 20, the following is what happened. SCP™ Igor*cisco would emerge from the incident in 4th place after being passed by former DSR member, [SR ]Prodigy. Now on lap 21 the top 3 are, FUuu, [DSR] smack, and [SR ]Prodigy. However, FUuu has yet to pit, but he has 19+ second lead on the field. Lap 22 saw the move of the day as sa maber executes a masterful move heading into turn 1 on both [DSR] smack, and [SR ]Prodigy to take 2nd spot. With the lead already cut down to 17 seconds, FUuu makes a grave mistake. Let's watch. FUuu would pit immediately and not only give up the lead, but drop back to 7th. Tough day for newcomer, FUuu. Lap 26 saw [SR ]Prodigy serve hi mandatory pit and drop him out of the top 3. Lap 28, sa pik_d loses control of his car and [DSR] AlPayson took advantage for 5th spot. Lap 29 sa pik_d has another mis-cue and heavily damages his car, not to mention his ego. With sa maber crossing the finish line 7.83 seconds ahead of everyone else, his day is complete, but the racing isn't over. Battling hard for 2nd place are [DSR] smack and SCP™ Igor*cisco with less than a second between them, [DSR] smack manages to hold off the hard charging SCP™ Igor*cisco to take 2nd place. That's how Dark Side Racing's Casual Saturday Race went. sa maber with the pole, a near disaster, a stellar drive and finally a win. Congratulations sa maber for an incredible race! Thanks to all who participated! That's all for now. See you all in 2 weeks for another exciting Dark Side Racing Casual Saturday Battle!
Concept Racing Dominates DSR's 7th Casual Saturday Event
In the latest Casual Saturday Event, an event loaded with fresh new racers, newcomers, Team Concept flat out dominated the 24 car field. First it was in Qualification with CR|troy taking the pole position with a 2:06.15, followed by his team mates, CR|R.Hoiting and CR|TwinFlow. Three time Casual Saturday Race Winner [DSR] amp88 once again employed at "wait and see" tactic to try to come from the back of the pack and win the race, but this time equipment failure proved his demise in the very 1st turn of the race when lag spikes caused his early exit. The next incident came shortly afterward in which first time DSR server participant, spdoegon, made slight contact with [DSR] smack which caused him to lose control, hit the grass and then smash hard rear first into a retaining wall. Although it was a hard hit, amazingly he would continue on and eventually finish in 5th. In the chicane on Lap 1, another 1st timer to the DSR server, 205Mi16, hit the tires barrier and is narrowly missed by CR|Laudi Racers that followed, all newcomers to the series, got caught up in the mayhem as a result, but all managed to continue on. As the race continued the top 4 set themselves apart from the rest of the field and the battle between CR|R.Hoiting, CR|troy, CR|TwinFlow and nJ.Pickard heated up until Lap 4 when nJ.Pickard go into the back of CR|troy and broke up the battle. The top 4 would continue to battle for the entire race, but in the end it was the pole sitter, CR|troy, who took home the win. Following him was CR|TwinFlow and completing the all Concept Podium was CR|R.Hoiting. Congratulations to the winners and thank you all for participating in the 7th, bi-weekly Dark Side Racing Casual Saturday Race. Come back in 2 weeks for another exciting Casual Saturday combo.
[DSR] amp88 wins a 3rd DSR Casual Saturday Race spectacularly at Fern Bay
The latest Dark Side Racing Casual Saturday Race took place at Fern Bay's Gold track in the Formula BMW. Turn out was good and the competition even better as ine X K.O'Keefe officially returned to DSR servers for the 1st time since he was a member of LRT and participated in Event 6 of the Road to Formula 1 Series. An event which he qualified 1st and DNF'd. As fate would have it, that was a foreshadow of what would take place in this Casual Saturday Race. ine X K.O'Keefe would once again take the pole with a blistering 1:19.86 a mere .06 faster than SCP™ Ivan® The race started off safely as every one got through Turn 1 and the 1st Chicane. The 1st incident didn't wait long when later on lap 1 [DSR] Initial D, Race 5's winner, got into the back of team mate, [DSR] AlPayson, who managed to keep his car on track. The touch didn't prove as easy to control for [DSR] Initial D as it caused him to careen across the track into the oncoming path of another team mate, [DSR] smack. The resulting "t-bone" effectively ended [DSR] Initial D's race quickly, but both of his team mates continued on with only slight damage. On Lap 5, pole sitter, ine X K.O'Keefe, went wide in turn 10 as SCP™ Ivan®, ready to pounce, took the lead. On the next lap, in that same turn 10 where ine X K.O'Keefe went wide a lap earlier, he did it again, but this time SCP™ Igor*cisco was unable to avoid him and got into the back of ine X K.O'Keefe and both lost time as a result. On lap 8 [DSR] Ehn!cO, who had been struggling all afternoon parked his car after a scrape of the wall in the now ominous turn 10 caused him to overheat his clutch and retire. 15 seconds later, pole sitter, ine X K.O'Keefe lost it once again in that now treacherous turn 10, hitting the wall and ending his race. 2 laps later, newcomer, Scott McKenzie, followed suit crashing out in that perilous turn 10. By lap 10, 4 racers had crashed out in turn 10 and SCP™ Ivan® and SCP™ Igor*cisco had the 1 and 2 spots respectively. Dark Side Racing veteran and Road to Formula 1 Champion, [DSR] amp88, who started last had already clawed his way up to 3rd position. The race would continue, incident free until lap 16 when SCP™ Igor*cisco hit the tire barrier in the chicane. As he recovered, [DSR] amp88 snatched the 2nd spot away. Then on lap 19, SCP™ Ki-Men, already a lap down, parked his car after damage to his car from a wall shot entering turn 7 proved to much to overcome. On lap 20 a fuel miscalculation took [DSR] smack out of the race allowing SCP™ SRBENDA and [DSR] AlPayson to gain a position. By lap 21 SCP™ Ivan® had worked up an over 20 second lead and looked as if he was well on his way to victory, but a mandatory pit made on lap 22, cut the lead down to less than 9 seconds. On lap 24, perhaps feeling some pressure from 2nd position, SCP™ Ivan® caught grass and spun while exiting the chicane allowing [DSR] amp88 to grab the lead. On the same lap SCP™ Ivan® pit to repair damages allowing team mate SCP™ Igor*cisco, [DSR] AlPayson, and SCP™ SRBENDA to pass. Suddenly [DSR] amp88 found himself with a 22 second lead with only 7 laps to go. All he had to do was stay on track. Mean while the battle for 3rd between SCP™ SRBENDA and [DSR] AlPayson was heating up. On the final lap, in the last time racers would navigate the chicane, SCP™ SRBENDA hit the tire barrier and careened onto the race path leaving [DSR] AlPayson nowhere to go but directly into the sitting duck competitor. The inertia from the massive hit completely stopped [DSR] AlPayson and sent SCP™ SRBENDA 200 yards on his roof. This was ample opportunity for SCP™ Ivan® to take over 3rd position from [DSR] AlPayson. That's how the race ended with [DSR] amp88 winning, followed by SCP team mates, SCP™ Igor*cisco in 2nd and SCP™ Ivan® in 3rd. Fast lap went to SCP™ Ivan® who laid down a 1:19.96. Congrats to [DSR] amp88 for winning his 3rd Casual Saturday Race in spectacular fashion. Next race will be 22 laps at Aston's National track in the TBO class of cars, (FXO,XRT,RB4), on May 29th. Thanks to all who participated and see you next Casual Saturday!
[DSR] Initial D Wins Casual Saturday Race 5
On Saturday May 1st Dark Side Racing held the 5th of it's Casual Saturday events at Aston's Club circuit in the nimble XFR. Lasting less than 43 minutes the contest was attended only by DSR drivers and one driver could not be caught. [DSR] Initial D, shown left negotiating Aston Club's last turn a final time, took home the win in a race which he started on pole and never looked back. Winning by over 15 seconds in the 38 lap contest, he was clearly the driver of the day. Finishing the all DSR podium in 2nd was the rarely seen, [DSR] Nooblet and in 3rd was Pennsylvania native, [DSR] Gil. Congratulations [DSR] Initial D!Race 6 of the dark Side Racing Casual Saturday Series will take place on May 15th on Fern Bay's Gold circuit in the Formula BMW.
[DSR] amp88 takes his second win in 4th DSR Casual Saturday Race
On the very tricky custom Blackwood Grand Prix layout, in the twitchy MRT, attrition was the name of the game. In a race where only 37% of the field that started the race actually crossed the finish line, [DSR] amp88 was an unbeatable force, finessing the skiddish MRT on the tight and twisty custom layout for his 2nd win in the DSR Casual Saturday Race. The event consisted of mostly Dark Side Racing members who's drivers made up 80% of the field. Previous Casual Saturday winner AMT>>sermilan along with former DSR driver from way back, Matt were also in attendance, but failed to complete the difficult race. Shown here, race winner, [DSR] amp88 negotiates the custom switchback esses one final time before taking home the win. The next race will be on May 1st and the combo has not been announced as of yet but is likely to be XFR at Aston's Club circuit. Thanks to all who participated in another Dark side Racing casual Saturday Race!.
sermilan AMTees off at Kyoto Ring
The latest Dark Side Racing Casual Saturday race was run on a custom version of Japan's Kyoto Ring circuit which utilized the tricky "boothy" chicane make-over and was no less than dominated by team AMT's sermilan In the 15 minute qualifying round he took the pole with a 2:21.27 almost a 1/2 second over competitor, [DSR] AlPayson. When the race began AMT >> sermilan simply left the field behind gaining a 1.83 second advantage by the 1st split of lap 1 and a full 3 seconds after the completion of the 1st lap. On lap 9, AMT >> sermilan headed to the pits for a mandatory pit with a 16 + second lead over [DSR] smack. On the next lap he regained 2nd spot as [DSR] smack hit the marks for his pit stop. On lap 12, [DSR] Lebaron fought hard to keep AMT >> sermilan behind him, but overshot the boothy chicane and AMT >> sermilan easily slipped through to take the lead back for good. AMT >> sermilan's stellar start. The race was attended by a newcomer from team mega Racers who bowed out after 9 laps saying only "this car isn't for me". Returning for more Dark Side Racing abuse was former DSR driver and currently Something Awful's sa|maber and making up 30% of the field was the team from Serbia, the Serbian Chromed Pistons. Many thanks go out to all who participated and we at Dark Side Racing hope you return to enjoy more racing with us. The next Casual Saturday Race will take place on April 17th and will utilize the custom layout at Blackwood and car combo, MRT, used in the 1st round of the Road to Formula 1 Series. The layout is on the server, so get on and practice for the next round of casual, come as you are, jeans and t-shirt, Saturday racing! AMT >> sermilan takes lead in boothy chicane.
[DSR] amp88 runs out of fuel as he wins at Westhill.
In the 2nd Dark Side Racing Casual Saturday race [DSR] amp88 ran out of fuel in the final turn and gently rolled himself to the finish line and still won the race by over 28 seconds. That capped a dominating performance in which [DSR] amp88 led from start to finish. Following [DSR] amp88, team mates [DSR] Lightfoot in 2nd and [DSR] AlPayson completing the all [DSR] podium. This race was not without controversy or it's share of excitement. [DSR] amp88's stellar performance in today's race is a great story but not the story of the day. RedlineChesnos took the pole position but mysteriously failed to report for the start of race. His whereabouts are, as of this writing, still unknown. Pole Winner RedlineChesnos. Race Winner [DSR] amp88. Disaster was averted on lap 2 when new comer, Joao Silva lost control of his LX4 heading into turn 2 with [DSR] AlPayson on his tail. Below, using the new Virtu-Cam™ we can take snap shots of the close call from any position on the track. [DSR] AlPayson would go on to catch up to his team mate [DSR] Lighfoot only to see it dashed with a spin late in the race securing [DSR] Lightfoot's grip on 2nd place and solidifying the final result. Thanks to all who participated and congratulations to [DSR] amp88 and the podium winners! The next race of Dark Side Racing's Casual Saturdays will be on April 3rd in FOX cars at the demanding circuit of the Kyoto Ring Grand Prix. No Dress code! Go Casual with Dark Side Racing on Casual Saturdays!
Dark Side Racing's Casual Saturday just another walk in the park for SR Vugl@
The first ever Dark Side Racing "Casual Saturday" was anything but casual for SR™Vugl@. Taking the Pole, with a lap time of 1:41.14, fast lap of the race at a tire blistering 1:41.01 and the win in the 21 car field. He had been dominating the time sheets and it was no surprise to those who have been following the weeks practice that preceded the event. Congratulations SR™Vugl@! Along with SR™Vugl@ were 6 members of the Dark Side Racing Team. Team Serbian Chromed Pistons showed up with 5 of it's drivers, Team Something Awful and Team RSRadicals joined in the fun with 2 drivers each and 6 other independent participants enjoyed a Casual Saturday running 15 minutes of qualification followed by 24 laps at South City's Town course. The entire event took about an hour and when the grid formed there were 21 racers on the track, but as happens so often at South City, 5 racers didn't make it to the end of this one. This journalist/racer made it to the finish line, but was not looking too healthy by races end.
The podium consisted of Pole Winner, SR™Vugl@, sapik_d in 2nd, and [DSR] Initial D in 3rd.
All in all, the race went smooth, with out controversy and we had a good turn out for the first event. The next event will be held at Westhill in a LX4 on March 20th. Thanks to all who participated and made the first DSR Casual Saturday a success! See you on the track!
Dark Side Racing Announces Casual Saturdays
After last weeks team meeting behind closed doors, Dark Side Racing has come up with a plan. The plan for now is called "Casual Saturdays". It will not be a series of races, but instead an "arrive and drive" type of event, in which anyone who shows up can race. As the name implies, these races will take place on Saturdays, but every other Saturday starting this March 6th at 4pm GMT on DSR's European server. Races run on Casual Saturday's will not have points tallied over a season, but will be run with the usual high standards of any other series hosted by DSR. There is no registration required, but an optional sign-up to a mailing list exists and can be found HERE "Just show up and race it's as simple as that" Said [DSR] Lebaron in a team forum. The first combo will be 24 laps of XFG + XRG at South City's Town course. Pit stops will be mandatory. More information on the event can be found at the forum for the event HERE Dark Side Racings officers will use these races to gauge interest and feasibility for a large-scale organized event this fall. As the races proceed, DSR may test custom layouts and/or spec setups to give the racers an interesting and unique experience. So tune up your racing gear gentlemen! We''ll see you March 6th!
Apparently DSR Hit the snooze button....
It was reported that Dark Side Racing was waking up after a 6 month long slumber, but as it turns out Dark Side Racing merely rolled over and hit the snooze button only to continue it's sleepy LFS activity for another 3 months. This past February 11th when DSR's newest member, maber, decided to set off DSR's alarm clock loud and clear. "After a lot of thinking, I've decided to leave DSR. In my view, the team has been hurting from a lack of activity" said the former member of DSR. In a statement to the team, [DSR] Lebaron said, "This is a wake up call for me I guess. I feel bad for not delivering." and called an emergency "make or break" team meeting. The meeting was held yesterday behind closed TS2 doors at which 9 of the teams 19 members were in attendance. Topics such as status of inactive members as well as the future of the team were discussed. Lasting nearly an hour, the attending team mates emerged from the meeting seemingly rejuvenated and joined [DSR] AlPayson in practice for that afternoons OWRL S2 Season 16 opener, FBM @ KY2R, for which [DSR] AlPayson was a stand-in admin. We caught up with DSR founding member, [DSR] Lebaron as he scurried to his awaiting limo and would only say, "The meeting today was very positive". Then quickly sped away. From the sound of that it looks like Dark Side Racing may finally be awake and ready for action.
Dark Side Racing waking up after a 6 month long slumber.
After a long layoff since the successful Road To Formula 1 Series, Dark Side Racing is in the planning stages of another exciting competition. Although many of the teams members have stayed active during the "off season" and have competed with success in other series, some members have taken time away from LFS. It's been over 6 months since the end of the Road To formula 1 Series, the longest ever layoff for the formidable Dark Side Racing Team. "It's time to get back into LFS", said principle owner and founder of Dark Side Racing, [DSR] Lebaron.
A team meeting will be scheduled in the coming weeks to set the team into motion with just what exactly they'll be doing. A lot depends on what happens with the new version of the simulator the LFS developers are working on. "We've gotten some inquiries from drivers that ran in the Road To Formula 1 Series and we're eager to get back into a competition run by our organization, but we'd like to coincide it with the new version. Hopefully the LFS development team will release the new version soon." said [DSR] AlPayson.
Until the next meeting, gentlemen. Start your engines and get your Live For Speed skills together for the next Dark Side Racing series.
